You wanted it and here it is! Before I post another travel guide, beauty article or fashion tips, you wanted me to first publish a new Life Update, at least that’s what you told me on Instagram 🙂 (title photo from Serbia, photographer: Enki):
My last Life Update was from South Africa. So far, our engagement my biggest highlight this year and the wedding planning is already in full swing. But I realized that this whole thing is already a bit stressful for me. I have always hated planning events at work and having a plan B ready for all sorts of eventualities. In addition, there is so much to decide at a wedding, there are countless options and at the same time a wedding is really quite expensive. My only wish is that it will be a beautiful day, full of joy and love, but I believe every one who has planned a wedding knows how many people want to intervene, how hard it is to make other people involved happy and how complicated the whole thing can become, and so on. Personally, I am also a person who either wants to do it right or not at all. That means, either we throw a big, awesome party (after all, I want to offer something fun, especially to the guests who travel from far away, we are inviting family from 4 countries alone), or we just elope and have a great time on Bali 😛 We didn’t decide yet, what our exact plans will be. For now we are researching our different option, but maybe we will do the wedding in Serbia, which is definitely a great option for us! As I said, what makes our wedding “complicated” is that we have family in the US, Germany, South Africa and Serbia, all of whom are important to us and will all come (probably).
Wedding planning should be something happy, exciting and beautiful and my text just now sounded so negative, but we are still at the beginning and I’m just a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing. The nice thing is that Jesse and I are always in agreement on almost every issue, even in smaller details, or we can talk about everything and Jesse is 100% involved in the planning (or 50% haha), and I don’t boss him around like a Bridezilla haha 🙂
Are any of you already married? Have any of you ever planned an “international” wedding, with family from multiple countries? I think that’s an aspect that makes everything a bit more complicated but also special!
After South Africa I traveled with my friend Elli to Bali and it was sooooooo beautiful! Bali is really special! I already wrote about our big highlight, our stay at Puri Dajuma Eco Resort in the north of Bali, here. And an update on my Bali Guide will follow as well as a report on our yoga afternoon at the Desa Seni Eco Resort. Do you have any other questions about Bali? It was so great to finally travel with a friend again!
After that I pretty quickly made my way back to my family in Serbia. I am there every year at the beginning of May, because on the 6th we always celebrate our house saint. In Serbian this celebration is called Slava and it is a very important family celebration that I did not want to miss! Last year we went first by bus to my parents and then by car all the way to Serbia. With all the waiting time the whole trip took more than a day. Unfortunately, I did not have that time to spare this time around.
In general, I’ve decided to fly as little as possible for the rest of the year since I already have an incredibly high carbon footprint. But South Africa and Serbia were family trips that I would not want to miss … I’ll keep you up to date on how well I’m doing with this whole #flyless thing this year. In any case, last year I managed to travel within Europe, including to Serbia, Munich, Vienna and Paris by car or train only. Not quite 100%, but I have already changed my lifestyle a lot (night train, spend a night in Mannheim, etc.).
A small excerpt from my Instagram stories from Serbia (you can find more in my Instagram-Highlights under “Serbia”):
Work & Instagram drama
Working with the blog and YouTube is still a lot of fun, the only thing that pulls me off every now and then, and I’m honest now (I did not want to write about it for a long time, because I’m a bit embarrassed) is Instagram. For me, the app is really fun, especially the exchange with my community, but this focus on the sheer number of followers from the clients, but also from other bloggers, as well as the perfect pictures, just stresses me. I’ve been an Instagram user for a long time and for that my follower count is pretty small. For my niche (Fair Fashion & Natural Cosmetics) however, I have a very good following. Still, I doubt myself too much, I want to create the perfect feed because of the pressure from outside, and then I realize how much I’m losing myself in this app. Besides, it often looks as though, and I notice that for me as well, Instagrammers lead perfect lives and I would like to break that up somehow. In single pictures that will be difficult, but luckily there are Instagram stories in which I can show some other peaks into what I’m doing, more than perfectly edited pictures.
I read a study that found Instagram had the most negative impact on mental health among social media networks, and YouTube the most positive. This was about teenagers, but honestly, a few months ago, I was feeling the same way! The constant scrolling on Instagram has not given me anything, instead I’ve discovered so many awesome YouTube accounts in the last few weeks that after watching their videos make me more motivated, get active and feel better. That’s why I sorted through my Instagram followings (accounts that made me feel rather negative, I unfollowed, as hard as it sounds) and currently I try to consume Instagram very consciously. I can only recommend that to anyone!
How are you dealing with the app, honestly? Do you sometimes feel Instagrammers with the perfect pictures live the perfect life? Or can you totally get rid of negative thoughts around this app? Be honest!

Work II & great projects
I have two really great projects, but unfortunately I can not tell you anything yet (aaaah finally I can say that, haha, I actually hate this sentence from other influencers, but I’m just so excited about the two projects that I had to mention it, sorry!), buuuut I work hard and I hope you like the end result! One will be already ready to be presented at the end of June / beginning of July, so it is not so much longer until I can tell you more!
On Sunday I will also travel with Talisa to Munich for the GreenTec Awards. This is a super chic award ceremony for the world’s most innovative environmental protection and green lifestyle projects. I’m looking forward to it so much and I’m curious what you’ll say about my red carpet dress 🙂 It’s sustainable, of course!
Jesse is currently traveling to visit his family and friends in the US, but fortunately I’m not completely alone at home. Talisa immediately took time for me (I love you girl !!!) to hang around a bit and slowly all my friends are coming back to Berlin from different corners of the world. Also I’ve got a roommate, one of my best friends, whom I’ve known for more than 10 years, and I enjoy spending time with him because he may be moving out at the end of the year. Anyway, I want to take more care of my friendships. To be honest, I’m not so good at it, but I know it’s very important to take your time to nurture friendships. Justine and Alex are coming to visit us next week and I can not wait for them to finally be back in Berlin!!! I want to visit them again in Vienna as soon as possible! And as I said, everyone is coming back from their travels and I’m so looking forward to the summer in Berlin!
I hope you had a good week and will have a well deserved good weekend! Take time for yourself, even if it’s just 5 minutes of meditation, it will do you so much good! I plan to do a little bit of yoga 🙂 That’s the best thing for me at the moment! Have a nice weekend!
