Yep, you read that right! I’m moving to Bali! Recently I told you that I am working on many new projects. Well, my move is one of them!!! We have already rented a property. This is so common in Bali. First, the choice of location was difficult. We really wanted to find a place close to our friends from Germany and Indonesia, so we decided to go with Canggu. The area offers everything we love. Beautiful scenery, scrumptious vegan cafes and surfing beaches (for Jesse). The big move happens in autumn! What we have to do before and what hurdles are still to come:
Anyone who has read this far, has maybe guessed that the whole thing is an April Fool’s joke 🙂 we are not leaving Germany! Honestly, we’ve thought about it a few times, or dreamed about it, but what would Jesse and I do in Bali? We have no job and no family. I prefer to visit the place as often as possible.
But you will find out what I’ve been up to over the last few weeks in today’s Life Update!
Family Time in South Africa
As you know, I spent three weeks with Jesse’s family in South Africa. The photos were beautiful, of course. The country is incredibly photogenic. Getting nice shots is no problem, no matter what the time of day! But it wasn’t pure holidays. We spent most of our time with the family, hanging around a lot with them (which was really cozy, but we did not have our typical super active sort of vacations) and even went to a family celebration in East London. Besides that, I actually worked at least four hours every day. I do not want to complain about that (some may think that the last two sentences may sound a bit like complaining), but just reflect a bit more reality behind the perfect pictures!
Trip to Bali
After South Africa, I had only 1.5 days to unpack and wash everything, have some meetings and pack for Bali. Sounds like #luxuryproblems but honestly, I was so stressed the day before leaving that I almost had a small nervous breakdown. After all, Bali is a long journey and that without Jesse and I have become so used to traveling with him. If anything ever happened, I knew he was there for me and me for him! But as soon as I was at the airport and saw Elli waiting there, my nervousness was almost completely gone! Bali is a girl’s trip and the first time in ages that I get to travel with a friend!!
So, that means, I’m in Bali right now. In Ubud to be exact! Our time here has been soooo amazing!!! The food is great, our accommodations are perfect and Elli and I almost always have the same preferences about what to do and don’t really need to have long discussions about it. But, of course, it’s not all peace, joy, and pancakes here in paradise. We already had a few fails, but I’ll write about that in a separate blog post. In retrospect it’s all pretty funny
A little update on our engagement / wedding
We are planning a Destination Wedding, so a wedding not in our hometown, but in another country. My parents weren’t so enthusiastic about the idea because they were afraid that it would end leading to too much organization stress. Have any of you ever had a destination wedding and have some experience or tips??? I don’t want the whole thing to turn into a stressful thing…
Speaking of engagement: would you actually be interested in a blog post about the story of my engagement ring? Or is that too far away from my blog topics? Let me know!!!
Self employment & Traveling
Somehow I imagined it all a bit easier. Since I can work from anywhere (at least 60-70 percent of the time), I thought I’d travel for six weeks, and it wouldn’t be too hard to continue to run the blog, create content for YouTube, and continue to grow my Instagram. In general, I’m a diligent and disciplined person and work pretty fast. But in foreign countries I can’t work 8 hours a day because there is just too much to be distracted by! Since I paid for the expensive flight, I want to get something out of it and see something. This breaks up the day and makes it hard to find a good work routine. So what I learned: I have to prepare much more when I travel. That’s what I will try next time. Also, preparing content is new territory for me. I usually write without an editorial plan and more from the gut. And so far, it seems like you guys like it 🙂 I’ll keep you up to date. Another question for you: are you interested in any specific details about my self employment? If you let me know exactly you are interested in then I will write an extra blog post about it, but I need some more questions from you…
Have a great start to the new week tomorrow, I hope I did not shock you too much and of course Happy Easter!!! I am spending the Easter Weekend eating tons of yummy vegan food as you can see here:
