But from my Instagram messages I found that there is one dish in particular that most of my readers struggle with: the typical German Brotzeit, aka bread spreads!<\/p>\n<p>What else can you eat with bread, besides sausage, cheese and egg, you wonder? Actually a lot! There is a long list of vegan ideas. I&#8217;ve already mentioned a few <a href=\"https:\/\/heylilahey.com\/en\/besten-veganen-rezepte\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. (not sponsored!)<\/li>\n<li>vegan &#8220;Lox&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>tofu with herbs<\/li>\n<li>vegan cheese, three recipes <a href=\"https:\/\/heylilahey.com\/de\/vegan-cheese-platter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Ajvar (serbian pepper spread)<\/li>\n<li>vegan bread spreads made out of nuts, veggies and nutritional yeast<\/li>\n<li>marmelade<\/li>\n<li>fresh veggies and sprouts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">I would also recommend:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>hummus<\/li>\n<li>margarine with salt and spices<\/li>\n<li>sliced smoked tofu<\/li>\n<li>fried tempeh slices<\/li>\n<li>vegan &#8220;liverwurst&#8221; (recipe below)<\/li>\n<li>vegan &#8220;mett&#8221; (recipe below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recipe for vegan &#8220;Pate&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">200g smoked tofu<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 can of kidney beans, drained<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 red onion<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 teaspoon red paprika<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 tablespoon dried parsley<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">2 tablespoons soy sauce<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 tablespoon tomato paste<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 small garlic clove<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cut all ingredients into small pieces beforehand and then blend everything in a blender. If you have time, fry onions, garlic and smoked tofu (all cut into small pieces) beforehand in the pan, then the spread is a little more digestible and tastes a little more intense. Serve with fresh parsley. By the way, the recipe makes a very large amount! You can also cut the ingredients in half.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recipe for vegan &#8220;Mett&#8221; spread<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Ingredients:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">50g rice waffles<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">250-350ml warm Water<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1\/2 onion<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1\/2 teaspoon red paprika<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">1 teaspoon parsley<\/li>\n<li>salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Roughly crumble the rice waffles in a bowl. Add the water slowly. Sometimes you need more, sometimes less water. Mash the rice waffles small and soft with a fork. Then add the remaining ingredients and let the whole thing soak for at least 30 minutes.
