Our first 24 hours in Kathmandu, Nepal

Namaste! Nein – ich bin nicht zum Hipster-Yogini mutiert, sondern so grüßen sich alle hier. Egal wo, auf der Straße, im Cafe, im Hotel, immer werden Jesse und ich mit einem superfreundlichen Lächeln und dazu einem “Namaste” begrüßt. Überhaupt sind die Leute hier so unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit und nicht, weil sie dir irgendetwas verkaufen wollen (so wie ich es woanders leider ständig im Urlaub erlebt habe), sondern einfach, weil diese Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit typisch für die Nepalesen ist.

Aber kurz von vorn: Am Freitag vor einer Woche ging es los, mit dem Zug nach Frankfurt, einem leicht verspäteten Flug nach Delhi (zum Glück sind wir überhaupt geflogen, mehr dazu in unserem YouTube-Video), kurzer Stop-Over, dann nach Kathmandu und mit einer aufregenden Taxi-Fahrt dann endlich nach 23 Stunden ins Hotel! Namaste! No – I’m have not mutated into a hipster Yogini. Everyone just greets each other that way. No matter where, on the street, in a cafe, in the hotel, Jesse and I were always welcomed with “Namaste” and a super friendly smile. In general, the people here are so incredibly friendly and helpful and not because they want to sell you anything (as I have unfortunately experienced on other holidays), but simply because this type of warmth and friendliness is typical for the Nepalese.

But from the beginning: A week ago on Friday we took a train to Frankfurt, hopped on a slightly delayed flight to Delhi (we were lucky that we flew at all, more about that on our YouTube video, it’s in English!), a short stop-over in Delhi, then a short flight to Kathmandu followed by an exciting taxi ride and finally, after 23 hours, we arrived at the hotel! We documented the whole trip on YouTube as I myself really love travel vlogs! Check it our (my first one in English!):

In den ersten 24 Stunden in Kathmandu sind wir einfach nur in Thamel und Patan herumgelaufen, haben den kleinen Kulturschock verarbeitet und einfach alle neuen Eindrücke aufgesogen wie ein Schwamm. Ich glaube, es kommt nur bedingt in den Fotos rüber, aber die Stadt ist unglaublich lebhaft, staubig, laut, aber auch herzlich und positiv. Aber schaut selbst:

In the first 24 hours in Kathmandu we just walked around in Thamel and Patan, processed the small culture shock and absorbed tried to take in all the new impressions. Kathmandu is really sensory overload. I think the photos can’t really capture the feeling, but the city is incredibly busy, dusty, noisy, but also warm and positive. But take a look for yourself:

Ich versuche alles so schnell wie möglich zu bearbeiten und hochzuladen, aber das Internet ist hier leider sehr sehr schlecht. Instagram lädt aber manchmal hin und wieder recht gut und dort kann ich euch in Echtzeit relativ auf dem Laufenden halten (wie immer @heylilahey)! I will try to upload everything as quickly as possible, but the internet is unfortunately very, very bad.
