At our wedding we wanted to make sure that everything was as eco-friendly as possible. In addition to the dress, the cosmetics, the decoration, gifts, even the perfume and food we wanted to make sure that the outfits were as sustainable as possible.
The bridesmaids and I got ready before the ceremony in a make-up room in the old theater. I wanted to surprise them with a gift and for that I have found an ethical fashion option: sustainable and fair-made kimonos / robed from Underprotection from Denmark.
Underprotection uses materials such as recycled polyester (especially for swimwear), recycled wool, lyocell and organic cotton. The packaging is made from recycled or biodegradable materials. The company also relies on fair production with fair wages and is Fair Wear Foundation certified. In addition to all these great eco-facts, I can also tell you that the designs are beautiful! Underprotection shows that sustainability can be chic, fashionable and super modern!
In addition to super-fine lingerie, there is also playful loungewear (with pajamas, overalls, dresses, kimonos and more) as well as super cute and versatile swimwear. The sizes go from XS to XL.
I chose the Bella Robe in white for our special day. The robe, which is made of Lyocell, is floor-length (I’m 177cm tall and wear XS, for smaller people I definitely recommend XS, regardless of what size you normally wear). The material is super soft and the lace details on the sleeves and hem give the kimono an elegant touch! Fittingly there was also the sleep mask Isabel in gray also made out of Lyocell from leftover fabric scraps.
I also got matching kimonos for my bridesmaids! I got the same model for all of them, but different sizes for each depending on how tall they are (the chat on the Underprotection website helped enormously!). For my girls, I chose the Isabel Kimono in purple, again made from super soft lyocell, with balloon sleeves and pockets! Super practical and comfortable to wear.
And here again a little surprise was added: Purple sleeping masks again made out of Lyocell:
The whole set was perfect, it was a great match for our style and color scheme, and I was so happy that we could again rely on fair fashion for beautiful and high quality clothing. A sustainable alternative would be second hand dressing gowns. But its not always possible to find the same color for all bridesmaids!
How do you like the selection? Do you like the dressing gowns and the colors?
As a treat, here are some backstage photos of the wedding for you (the following photos are by Jelena Hinic):

Hallo 🙂
